Hi,
I have a windows 2000 server with Nav Attain installed. It was running fine as a service up until a couple of days ago.
When you try to start the service from the service mmc snapin, you get the following error message, "Could not start the Navision Attain Database Server <ServerName> service on local computer.
Error 1058: The service could not be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it."
However, when I run the server.exe from dos, it runs fine, no error messages.
Has anyone seen or had experience troubleshooting this type of error before?
Furthermore, when i do a net start from dos it doesn't list the navision service. it looks like the service hasn't been installed properly. I have tried installing the service using the "installasservice" switch, however this hasn't helped. Is there another way to do this? or am I doing something incorrectly. I have the feeling that the service hasn't been installed properly.
Would it break Navision if I reinstalled the Navision Server again?
I have very little experience with attain and I have been lumped with this job. I have been given very little info, by the client, and have the feeling that the client has change something but doesn't won't to own up it to. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!
