How to disable posting

Hi.

I'm wondering if there's a quick and dirty way to disable all posting in a company without mucking all the roles up. This is a new installation where users are preparing journal batches for go live, and they need all the 'normal' access rights (create customers, vendors, etc.), but I don't want any posting done by mistake until all the batches have been approved.

I tried one thing that seems to work - In (Cronus) Fin Mgmt, Setup, General Ledger Setup I set the Allow Posting From to 01/22/99 and Allow Posting To to 01/21/99 (notice the inverted dates) and it seemed to do the trick - no posting date was allowed.

Are there any better ways?

What you did is probably the quickest and the best way. Since this is just for the short term, making changes is probably not a good idea.

Remember that you should also check user setup table. It overides the gl setup
