We have a client that's going to be upgrading to version 5.0 from 3.7. They've purchased a SQL optimized server to migrate to SQL when they're up with 5.0.
Should we run the upgrade process on SQL? Or the standard C/Side database, then backup and restore to SQL?
Are there any performance issues when running the upgrade process on SQL?

I've also increased the cache on the client to 120 Mb.

The upgrade does a lot of table changes for all records and Native is generaly faster in those type of transactions unless you have a SQL server in which the table can be cached.
IF you use SQL just unmark the rowlock sinche it will kill your lockmemory.
Good luck.[/u]
