    From the author:

    NDI is free to use, no warranties granted what so ever.
    NDI will expire by April 1 2004, where a new verson is released (at the latest).
    This is for not having 'old' versions floating around.

    New ideas and constructive criticism is appreciated...

    Coming up / Ideas:
    - Rounded Rectangle draw
    - Rounded Rectangle fill
    - Create stream (directly into BLOB)
    - Create other graphic formats (gif,jpg...)
    - WebService implementation for easy deployment

    Hello Preben Rasmussen,

    i think this is not a good solution. Because so i have to administrate a lot for a running system. I don´t want to touch a running system if it is good enough for me. Sometimes features a not intersting enough.

    Don´t expire software if you want to distribute it for free.

    Thank you for your reply Mayer. It is nice to get some feedback.

    If I understand your reply correctly, your problem is maintaining the installation of a program that expires. Isn't that correct? Or is it the program itself that you have problems with?

    The expiration has got nothing to do with distributing the program for free at all. Expiration is a must for a version 1.00 product, that has not been tested in public. This is because I want to be able to fix problems if any before releasing a non-expiring product in the future.

    Therefore: please test the product and report any problems to me directly or better yet through this forum.

    You can also look for products to deploy or remotely install programs on client computers through the network logon if you want to use NDI in a production environment immediately.

    Also: As I mentioned under "Coming up/Ideas", a web service will be made to be able to use NDI without updating all clients. Maybe this is what you need?

    Hello Preben,

    I have just downloaded your component - looks useful!
    Since you asked for suggestions -
    * How about the ability to show short documents (text/RTF) as bitmaps - saves having to launch a separate editor
    * Expiry of software might cause a support headache where a large number of instances have been registered. Are you expiring the software just for the first version?

    Hi Simon

    Thank you so much for your feedback.

    Your suggestion about creating bitmaps from text/rtf sounds very interesting. And it might even not be that hard to implement.
    It would give us the ability to create reports with 'text'-lines mixing font face/stile/size a.s.o. Or nice-looking memo boxes on a form. Good suggestion!

    Regarding the expiration I will ask you to read my reply to Mayer above. The expiration is ONLY for the first one or two version because I needed some feedback on the functionality before releasing it finally.

    Furthermore I can tell you that I am currently working on a web service, that removes the need for client installations. It will be available soon.

    BUT then again: judging from the feedback I have gotten (2 pcs. as seen above!) What would encourage me to continue developing the product? With this lack of feedback it doesn't seem that there is a need for this kind of product! 250 downloads and only 2 posts in the forum!

    Please prove me wrong and give some feedback!

    Hi,

    I downloaded the NDI 1.03 aplication and instaled it in my computer. Perfect and no error, but when I try to use it it gives an error like this:

    "Could not create an instance of the OLE control or Automation server identified by GUID=.....
    Check that the OLE control or Automation server is correctly installed and registered."

    Any idea of what can I do to fix the problem?.
    I can install the application, compile objects contained on the fob but i cannot run it :( .
    I need this aplication or similar to rotate a barcode. If you know how to do it without NDI or fixing NDI error I appreciate your help.

    I think it has to do with reading

    Hi,

    Savatage that's the same error as mine.

    My question is: Is there anything I can do to fix this problem.
    I'm using 3.70 in this case.
    What I need is a vertical Barcode. Anyone knows how to do it without NDI???. I'm using NAVIBAR to create the barcode but it is horizontal and I need it vertical. So my idea is use NDI to rotate it.
    Well the topic isn´t about Barcode so I stop writing.

    After loading the ndi.installer.msi---wen i am running the objects after importing ,I am getting the OLE/Automation error--

    How to clear it??
