Testing software that works with Navision

CharlyCharly Member Posts: 2
We have a client who has been live with Navision for 3 years. They have their own NAV developpers and license and now we are doing their upgrade. Because of the sheer volume of data and business processes, we are looking for a qc/testing tool that would allow us to prepare test plans, and populate Navision forms, sequence the processes and provide results of the variations. There was a bit of research done but none of teh softwares seems to recognize the fields on the forms.

Has anyone used or developped such a tool?? Any lead would greatly be appreciated!!

Thank you in advance,

Charly

I don't believe there is such tool.
You are better off sending the work to india. Work with them closely. You'll save a lot of time and money.
Granted once you get the db back the will be a lot of testing involved but you can aleaviate this by analyzing the mods first

It is hard to say, but if you do not have documentation to their changes, it is impossible to test what must be changed to have successfull upgrade. But it depends on contract between you and your customer, who is responsible for the upgrade of their changes. May be you can upgrade just your part, and their will upgrade their changes... :-)

I don't think i've ever seen any tools that really work well with testing Navision. There are lots of tools that support .Net, Java and other environments but nothing i've seen for Navision.

I don't think thats something that's really possible with Navisions current environment. The closest you could possibly get are building test scripts based on mouse movements and key presses...and those may take too much time to build and may not really be effective.
