Triggering a Notification from NAS

Has anyone been able to do this successfully?
I have a Navision 4.0 SP1 installation that includes both business notification and NAS (on separate servers). A notification is triggered every time a new record is inserted into a table and if the new record is inserted by a Navision client the notification is delivered successfully. NAS is also being used for inserting records in the same table. Although record insertion via NAS is successful, the notification is not generated at all (although it executes the same code path, something that is proved by the NAS logs). In fact no message is created by NAS in the IsolationStorage folder of the corresponding NAS account. Any ideas?
