Purchase Credit Memo with Standard Costing

Dear all,

Our navision is using Standard Costing.
For normal purchases, let say we buy one unit of PC @500, but standard cost is set at 550.
The Posting entries:
Purchase Account 500
Direct cost applied (500)
Variance accounts (50)

Problem arise when I do a purchase credit memo of the above:
The posting entries:
Purchase account (500)
Direct Cost applied 550

and there is no reversal of 50 from variance account.

I wonder if this is a standard navision practise.

TQ

check your General Product posting group setup accounts

we use standard cost posting and it works correctly

it took a little bit to figure all the accounts you need to set, in a test company I setup each account in a given posting group to hit a different g/l account, then posted transactions, it can quickly learn which account is used for each transaction, getting straight when the inventory adjustment account is different then the purchase varianace purchase account ect.

Now to get standard cost posting to post correctly, several posting account need to be the same, this way the debit and the credit hit the same account, and the difference turns out to by your variance.

there is no problem with the posting group.

the only issue is when credit memo, system does not reverse the Variances.

It is a bit odd (personally), if we purchase we calculate variances but if we return/credit memo, no variance will be populated.
