Outlook Syn to Shared Vendor Contacts?

We are looking at creating a sharded Outlook Contact list of our current
vendors and potential vendors which we do not currently purchase from
(possible new vendors, new technologies, etc). These contacts would be used by both purchasing and Product Development Engineering. Not all the contacts in Outlook would be vendors in NAV.

It would be nice however, to synchronize the data between the outlook and NAV vendor card (or NAV contacts) when information is changed in either outlook or in NAV.

Has anyone had any experience with this type of scenario and has any
suggestions of things to do and not to do, or better ways to do this?

We are on SQL version 4.1

    Check Outlook syncronization.
    I assume you are using Exchange.
    Create new Contact items in public folder, check permissions, set up Outlook on Salespeople and use public location (if you use personal mailbox, then NAV will pump-in all (private) contacts from Outlook into T:5050).
