What happened?
Wednesday, a problem was detected with the server's filesystem. This problem stopped the server from restarting after a necessary reboot.
The ISP created a new virtual server and started the restore process. But as both the web-server and ftp-server are situated on the same server, it took a very long time (the ftp-server contains +50 GB of files).
Everything concerning files could be restored from the old system. All the data (forum postings) could be restored as well, except for the period
4 September 20:00 (CEST) -
5 September 14:00 (CEST). So if you made a important posting at that time, you'll have to do it again.
What will be done to minimize downtime?
We will separate the ftp-server from the web-server in the near future. This way, a restore of the website will be much quicker, as less data has to be copied.
