Migration from 2.00 localized to 5.00

Hi,

first thing I've searched and found a topic where was discussed the same problem, but I've a doubt:

I've a 2.00 database localized in Italian language, to translate it to 5.00 I need to pass throught the 4.00 version (i've read the manual)...my doubt is:

-I've need a 2.00 demo database in english to translate the customer's db in english? I think yes..
-Can I decide to migrate the base code o I'll migrate the customizations, and I'll have to remove in the 4/5 version?

For me it seems that reimplementing will be much better than to try to update 2.00 to 5.0. But it depends on quality and size of customizations in 2.00.
