Problem Starting Navision Database Service!

Hello i am new here. I have this problem that i can't start navision Service on the new workstations i have bought.I have installed different "Windows systems" like Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2003 standart+ enterprise and i have the same problem.
Could not start the Navision Attain database server
Error 1: Incorrent function.
hope i have an answer.

What's your parameters when you setup the NAV server?

First thing to do in case of problems is starting the Navision server using a DOS-box. This way, you see the parameters which are being used (databasename, licensefile, servername). If there is an error at this point, it is displayed in the DOS-box.

I tried to start navision database in a dos box and retruned this results!

The parameter is incorrect.

It means that 1 of your parameters being passed to server.exe is invalid. Carefully review your command statement.

In some versions of NAV the Net protocol type is not set after installation. You need to set it to TCP through registry or through MMC snap-in.
