The Distribution whitepaper makes reference to the following ability

https://mbs.microsoft.com/downloads/par ... arch07.pdf

" Finally, the solution’s integration also supports improved collaboration between departments and with suppliers and customers. You can make business information and documents available to team
members and help ensure fast, efficient interaction and teamwork through collaboration portals using Microsoft Office SharePoint® Server 2007. In addition, any SharePoint document may be linked to a record or transaction in Microsoft Dynamics NAV. For instance, using SharePoint, you could link a Word document detailing a test specification to an item card or a quality assurance report to a purchase order return. That means supporting documents can be accessed directly from information
within Microsoft Dynamics NAV."

Is this ability only in Nav 5.1 or am i misreading this as assuming i can read the linked documents in nav ?

any one had experiance or know another whitepaper perhaps that might outline this function more eaisly ?

isn't this just the document links in 5.0?

Yes i know how to link the documents but i haven't seen any direct linkage
say for an example a customer places an order with special requirements document they provide and you have them do this through sharepoint, i haven't seen the linkage through to share point or indeed from nav to a specific part of sharepoint. I am waiting for MS to fix the web services 3 and employee portal issue and also to see this sharepoint target services i am hearing about.

The text is just about the link functionality. That you can link the record in NAV with some document, and you can open the document from NAV (not within NAV). That's all. Users have possibility to copy any URL into NAV and other users can open the URL... nothing more, nothing less. 8)

Sure the links in navision can access a document in a known location or database. But does the text imply that i can insert the link into navision from sharepoint.

My basic scenario would be if i am sales rep or customer place an order/quote and i have a diagram document i wish to attach. Lets say a blueprint then i upload that document to sharepoint against that order.

Would the document insert itself automatically as a link or would i have to C&P the linkage address into the links in navision and if so from sharepoint or in the client itself ?

It is just about C&P of the URL of the Sharepoint document into NAV client.
