Mini Forms - ADCS

Any help would be great. I have two questions:
1. Does anyone know if it is possible to be able to pick from a list on the mini forms. Example would be on an inventory transfer I want the user to be able to select from the locations table.
2. On the handheld the user would like to have an item inquiry option. The issue I am having is that if I use the item table the user then has a chance to overwrite the item number in the item table. Has anyone created an item inquiry screen using the miniforms before?
