Absence Matrix report

Hi Everybody,
I need some help in the matrix. I want to amend the employees absence report by creating a contacts absence report (the absence for meetings and things of the sort). Ideally I would like to use the same report and change it accordingly but it is proving quite difficult? Can anyone give me some tips?
