Automation OCX on customer license

ara3nara3n Member Posts: 9,256
Hello
Our customer has application developement granuale, when I change my client license to developer, I cannot select automation, or ocx as a variable, and this is my developer license. Why is that?
I can load a codeunit with automation variable and change the codeunit.

if I change the license to developer on the server, I can select the variable.

Why is this limitation added to the license? client?

This is an anoying bug in NAV. My guess you are having a server installation? In that case your dev license should be on the server and you'll need to restart the service.

I don't want to load the dev license on the server. Because the customer will also do some setup in the same company and don't want them to see or setup granules they don't have.

I agree 100%. The chance is just too high that someone will do something that creates a table that you don't know about till its too late.

You need to be working on your local db and export the object.

Yes, that is the other workaround off-course.

There are 3 other developers from client side that are working on the db, and working offline has it's own issues.

Anyways the issue is the automation variable selection.
why did navision added that limitation?
And is there a granule that customer need to buy to use automations?

Having the solution development granule in your license is not enough. C/OCX is a seperatie granule: 1750. Adding this to the license will make it work just fine.

Why they created a seperate granule for this, I (obviously) don't know.
