Display Description instead of Code in Combo Box

Hi all,
I have a number of combo fields on my item card which at the moment display the Code which is written to the table. What i'd like to do, if possible, is still have the Code being written to the table, but display the Description field from the combo box / lookup table instead. Is this possible?
