Error converting 3.70 to 4.0 sp3

When opening a Nav 3.70 database with the Nav 4.0 client it prompts to convert the database. When I click OK to convert the database the following SQL error occurs :-

Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'name' table 'tempdb.dbo.#$ndo$groups'

any idea what is causing this ?

Navision 4.0 client had not been installed properly
