Automation vs. Rewrite to a Codeunit

Hello everybody!.. we have to work with store procedure and we think to use an automation variable to execute it from a codeunit. But we had problems with this kind of variable in Navision 3.7, now we are using Navision 4.
The other posibility is to pass the functionallity of this store procedure to a codeunit, I think it will be faster and with less problems... and it is not very difficult to do in Navision, what do you think?
