Setup/installation of Navision Developer Toolkit and opinion

andy76andy76 Member Posts: 616
I read about NDT in the manuals when I did the exams of certification.
Can you please explain me:
- where I can find the setup and documentation of it?
- opinion about its functionality: does it work right?is it good?

Thank you very much

You can download it from the partnersource.

I use it to confront 2 versions and also to help me for upgrading.
For merging, you have to check anyway if it has been done correctly but it helps a lot for tables and codeunits.
Forms, reports, dataports are better done manually but the NDT is still usefull for confronting the versions.

I only use it if I have to do a quick unthoughtful merge ... .

OK, I have clicked your link and I can download it.
I don't understand which version is. Is it good also for NAV 5.00.
Online I found only old version and on partnersource MS it is not very clear.:-k
I would like to install last and more complete version possibile

I didn't use it for 5.0, but it should be OK.

    Hi,

NDT Build 291 cannot open databases created with the 5.0 Client. (I tried :( )
You have to build the database with a 4.0SP3 client, export your 5.0 objects and then import them into the database.

    Hope this helps,

Do you know if now, after 7 months, there is a new version of NDT for version 5.0 ?

    Thank you very much.

the newest version of NDT is still Build 291.

But why do you need a new version of NDT for version 5.0?

    No. there isn't.
Like already mentioned above. Create a 4.0 SP3 database and import 5.0 objects.
    It works fine!
