if you mean a NAV back up of an exisiting company then you would have to restore it. If you want it in the exisiting database then you will need to rename the exisiting company first as the restore will not work if the company name is already in use.
This would give you a second copy of the current company. If you want this for test purposes thats fine, if its for a new real company then unless the backup was taken before any transactions were processed its not so useful.
If all you are after is the structure of the master data and posting setup's etc then you could either use the copy functionality in Company Information or you could try to build a set of files to import using the RIM tool(depening on your version).
If you are putting in a test copyo of the live company remember that objects in the database relate to all companys so if you want to test new development then set up a completly new database first.
