Extended String Functions / Dynamic textboxes on a report

Can someone help me with some standard extended string functions, mainly for use in reports?
Right now I'm having the following case:
-Situtation
- Fields with length of 100
- report with a horizontal space for this field of maximum x, let's say 40
- Wanted result
- a dynamic textbox on my report that only uses the (vertical) space needed (or more than one section that is shown or suppressed smartly...)
- Navsion has to cut the text smartly, let's say use the latest space available to split the text into more lines
- Navsion has to take into account that a proportional font may be used
