Does anyone already know something about Navision on SQL server 2008?
Not that I am planning to use it. But just curious.

It really is a new product, and in terms of big databases, it has huge performance enhancements. But I did not see that there is any move on the Navision side to use this at this stage, so I think its awhile away before it starts to affect us.

Unfortunately everything else I know about it is NDA so :-$

probably of more interest is that support for SQL 2000 will end with the release of SQL 2008 - so get planning for those migrations to SQL 2005.

If support is ending for 2K, If I were a company, would be moving to 2K8 in a year.

Yes, I think this is the best idea as well.
Moving to 2005 is a peace of cake .. so I expect that moving to 2008 will be easy as well.

    bummer.
I remember you were telling the story about sift technology that oracle implemented as well and Navision took them to court. The verdict was that you can't patent mathematical formula.

Nowadays you can patent one single click.

    How things have changed.

WOW I was actually going to reply commenting on the Oracle situation, but couldn't find my original post, and would be surprised if anyone ever rememberer it. DAMN you have a good memory.

But yes its wierd that there was such a fight over Flow Filed technology, so long ago, and now that MS own it, they just don't care.

Oddly enough, I first found out about how SIFT technology works through the Oracle case; before that even internally in PC&C it was secret.
