Hi,
Have you ever used in Navision Attain V3.60 - Expected Cost.

Re the issue of ‘what if the Purchase invoice hasn’t come in yet’.
I found a thing on attain called ‘Expected Cost’ and if you tick this in the Inventory setup window, the expected cost from the GRN will post and when the invoice eventually arrives this is reversed out again automatically. This is controlled by the 2 inventory batch jobs.

My question is, have you used this ‘Expected Cost’ facility? And if so, have you noticed any problems with it? As i have heard there are problems but i dont know what. :?:

Please let me know your comments.

Thanks :)

Expected cost does exactly as you say...but there is one pitfall that I know of:

If you have a quantity that has been received but not yet invoiced, and the expected cost account setup is changed...you will be in a world of hurt. There is only 2 way's (that I know of and have experienced) to successfully change the expected cost account setup:

    Usual way:
    1.) Run adjust cost
    2.) Run post-cost to G/L
3.) Point the expected cost account to it's new account
4.) Create a transaction that credits the previous account and debits the new accrual account (this account should be on you Balance Sheet!).

    Lucky way:
1.) Receive and invoice all open orders
    2.) Run adjust cost
    3.) Run post-cost to G/L
4.) Point the expected cost account to it's new account (Inventory Accrual Account).

Word to the wise: Do NOT use the Automatic Cost posting functionality if you have a high number of transactions being entered into the system. We have disabled this functionality for all of our high-end SQL installations (because of the locking that occurs for the COGS accounts, etc.).

    Thanks!
