Job Scheduler Issue

matias_jaurematias_jaure Member Posts: 157
Hello!, we have a little problem with users who manage the Job Scheduler. We don't know how they create two sessions of the Job sheduler and it generates some problems. We want to give them some document to prevent it, any idea?

Also, they tell us that sometimes they can't restart the Job Scheduler? If someone has some idea about it will help us very much too!..

Thank you !!

I think you'll have to provide more information about the problems they have ... :-k

OK. Sometimes when we enter to the server that we have to run Job Scheduler, we found that two sessions of job scheduler are open (started), we see two job schedulers. We don't know how they do such a thing!

Don't know for sure if I understand what you mean, but here are some thoughts:

    1) You can open 2 instances of the same form by clicking with the right mouse button on a menu item, and select "open in new window".
    2) You can start 2 NAV sessions and start the job scheduler in each one of them.

Option 2 should not be possible. you should receive the message "the job schedular has already been started by "Userid""

on our Nav 4.0 system, doesn't matter, there is no combo of user id's or machines, ect. if the job scheduler is started, you can not start another instance of it.

    Navision 3.7

Do you mean user id in Navision or in Windows?

is this the standard job scheduler, or maybe your solution center created a job schedular that runs in NAS

I understand the problem now, we use the account navuser to run jobscheduler. But someone has entered with navadmin (for example) and start another instance of the job scheduler. So, the Job Scheduler hands up. And the only way to restart it is to stop one of the two instances.

That isn't the only way. It just the integration with NAS wasn't written properly. This is just one of the gotchas of using the job scheduler with the NAS -- you need to make sure that you make the correct entries into the table that manages the Job Scheduler sessions.

If your NSC decides to fix it make sure they handle the case when Navision, or the NAS stops unexpectedly.
