Employee Portal vs Terminal Server

Does anyone have an idea on what the differences in functionality and cost are between these two?
In other words... What would you recommend?

I think that this question was answered in the Dutch speaking forum, but briefly:
NEP is just when you need SIMPLE tasks mainly for reading only over small groups of data (small count of records).
TS is main solution when you need to give access into NAV for users worldwide.0 -
Depends on what functionality that you want to give to the employees.
Terminal services is a very simple method to give access to the users at different locations. Obviously TS is much more cheaper compared to the Employee portal.Diptish Naskar

TS is easier and cheaper to implement.
It's hard for me to recommend employee portal other than that it give NAV the ability to have a web-like interface...Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

Terminal server will be way more expensive then employee portal
each terminal server user requires, a full Navision license, our currect qoute is $1950 per user, plus each must be licensed for the terminal server session, which will be another couple hundred per user, and you need the terminal server also.
the employee portal, our current quoted cost is $250 per user.
Now terminal server users have the full client, can easily access everything and the response is going to be much faster.
the employee portal is much slower, not very good for data entry, but good if you need to give employee's limited access to look stuff up,
thats my opinion at least.0 -

That's if you're looking strictly into the license cost. Don't forget you have to take into account programmers and network people to come in and set it up for you.Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant = my blog

Let's not forget that TS and EP are two functionally completely different things.
If you want some simple lookup and very low volume data entry, EP might be good for you. Expect to run into EP's limitations quickly though, because there are just a few available webparts.
TS will give you remote access to a full fledged Windows session or an entire application, such as NAV.
Two entirely different things altogether. Comparing the two is like comparing apples and bananas.0
