COPY one record into another

Hi,

I have two different tables that have the same fields. I need to copy records from one table into the other one. For that I do this:

recTable1.SETFILTER(whatever);
IF recTable1.FIND('-') THEN
REPEAT
recTable2.COPY(recTable1);
recTable2.INSERT;
UNTIL recTable1.NEXT = 0;

I get a runtime error that tells me that filters cannot be copied between records from different tables.

I don't actually wanna copy the filters, I just want the record itself so that I can Insert it into the second table.

Is there any other function I can use that does only copy the field values and not the filters? Or do I have to copy all fields one by one, like this:
recTable2.field1 := recTable1.field1;
recTable2.field2 := recTable1.field2;
...
recTable2.fieldn := recTable1.fieldn;
recTable2.INSERT;

I really hope this is not the solution...

Thanks

    Hi,

    if the fields in the tabeles have the same field id, take a look at the transferfields function ;-)

    that's what I was looking for! I knew there was a function like this, but I couldn't remember the name!
    thanks JoeK
