Offline capability

Do you know if Nav>4.03 will offer any kind of offline services? Maybe CRM only? Maybe readonly just for lookup purposes?

Thanks!

No, this has not been planned for the 5.1 release. This will only be a technical release concerning the new 3-tier architecture.

    Dynamics CRM has this functionality.

Dynamics CRM does not have a full integration with NAV, right?

So maybe we must replicate parts of our SQL Server into an SQL server on a salesmans Notebook.....

What do you mean with full integration?

There are CRM connectors but Dynamics CRM has limited functionality even compared to NAV CRM.

And what do think about the new MS Outlook synchronisation from version 5.0. This option gives you the possibility to copy any table to outlook objects, and even to synchronise data. So to have your CRM data offline, this feature might be used.

Do you have a link to a document which describes this outlook synchronisation?
This might be a good idea for contact information, but I fear our field staff might also need infomation about former quotes, orders and service information? I assume this will be impossible to do with Outlook synchronisation....?

YOu think this is going to work for dynamics CRM tables/objects as well?

No, only for MS Dynamics Nav tables (which can be the CRM tables in Navision, but not from the separate Dynamics CRM).

See partnersource for the Course "What's new in Navision 5 application, part 1", course no 8713, look there at chapter 3 for outlook syncronisation

No, what I mean that it is not going to be possible to synch your NAV tables with CRM objects ... but that's only what I think...

    Waldo,

You are right. You can NOT synch Nav and CRM tables, when we are talking about MS-Dynamics Nav and MS-Navision CRM, which are 2 seperate applications.

Yes you could do that for the CRM tables of Navision (ex. Table 5050: contacts).

Ah, OK, I thought you meant that we would be able to synch NAV with CRM through the outlook synch in 5.0 ... and I was pretty sure this was not possible :) .

    Thanks!

This is available through the new Mobility granule that MBS have been working on and trialling for NAV and AX. This is basically using SQL Replication and Merge toolsets for synching the data to mobile devices between NAV SQL and SQL Desktop Engine (or whatever they call it nowadays) and has been written for NAV CRM.

Although the NET trials were happening before Xmas and now extended through other partners, not seen or heard anything about any release dates for it.
Been doing this NAV thing for far too long......but still enjoying it!

The only disadvantage is that it's only for PocketPC (at the moment).
