Is the Hosts file really necessary?

Hi

I need to have two database servers running (NAV 4.0SP3) on my clients machine.
In the "Installation and Configuration" training material it says that I must modify the services file on the server. That's fine for me.
BUT, then it also says that I need to modify the hosts file of all the client machines.
Is there a way to avoid that? It's not practical to modify the host file every time I need to give a new user (client machine) access to NAV.

Best regards

In the File -> Open Database window, you can fill in the IP-address of the server, together with the portnumber (if the Navision server doesn't run on the default port 2407). So you can type for example 10.1.2.3:3001 in the Server Name field.
