SMS 2003/SQL2005 - NAV Windows Authentication

ultiboyultiboy Member Posts: 14
Hi.
I was wondering if it is possible (i.e if somebody out there had successfully done it) to install SQL Server 2005 (workgroup edition) on a Windows Small Business Server 2003 (running as a domain controller), AND THEN, use Windows Authentication (Active Directory) on the NAV client machines?

Thanks.
Seb

I didn't heard about any problem. You just needs to add the extended stored procedure to the MS SQL server (see Sql_esp folder on NAV install CD).

    Hi Ultiboy,

I know that MS do recommend SBS in some small implementations, but be very aware that unless this is a very small system, you are going to have performance problems. There is just too much running on one machine.

At the minimum, make sure that the SQL server component has enough dedicated drives for the Navision database.

Apart from performance issues from running many apps on one box this should technically be possible.

    Thanks all for the replies.

Did one of you actually implemented this architecture?
    Thanks again.

Note: We already have the extended stored procedures on SQL Server.
