Our customer is working with Navision 3.70 in a native database.
He wants to upgrade the database to SQL.
This can be SQL 2000 and SQL 2005?
Now I have 2 questions.
- Is it possible to work with Navision 3.70 in SQL 2005?
- If yes, which version is preferred, SQL 2000 or SQL 2005?
Thanks in advance.

3.7 runs only sql 2000.
But. I wouldn't spent money on 7 year old software. Install navision 4.sp 3 client.and purchase sql 2k50 -
SQL Server 2005 only works correctly with Navision client 4.0 SP3.
You must at least upgrade Navision client.0 -

Is anyone actually running 3.70 on SQL 2005 in a live environment?
I mean I know it works, and I have not seen any problems, BUT is it safe in a production environment.
I know that upgrading is fine, but sometimes the cost can be so high as to just not be worth it.David Singleton0 -

That's what I am doing locally, and it works fine, but I am wondering if anyone is doing this in a live environment.David Singleton0 -

I think Microsoft doesn’t support that setup. :-k0 -

I have at least one customer who insisted on doing this upgrade [4SP3 runtime on SQL2005] and it behaves strange somtimes. But this is mainly due tho THE bug. (See no. 2 post all times).
We are working on eliminating the terrible reads on some of the tables and implementing all workarounds we know of. :?
(I advised to move back to SQL 2000).0 -

I assume that no. Do not forget that NAV 5.0 is most optimized version for usage MS SQL 2005 from all versions (but it doesn't mean that there is no :bug: ).0
