This may be a stupid question, but I have gone through the training documentation provided and it not very clear as to wether Business Analytics could be run on client only or can you onlu use it on the Sql Server Option for Navision?

Thank you in advance

Sorry, but this is not true.

BA can process data from Native server too. Just the cube must be on MS SQL. It means source Navision DB can be on Natvie server or MS SQL. BA database for the cube must be on MS SQL.

I have since installed SQL Server 2005 and using Nav Client. I am now getting an error when trying ti run the configurator and also cannoty create a new db in the BA Enterprise manager. Wud that have something to do with my license? (I have a NCS licence)

Does anyone know where I can find details/documentation of how to Setup BA, as everything I try seems to error in some way

    Please help ](*,)

The documentation and whitepapers are accessible on PartnerSource.

The whole process is sensitive to permission settings for the services and to location of each comonent. Easiest way is to have all on one PC. And you need to not forget that when using SQL 2005 for the cube, you need to use Configurator for SQL 2005 too.

Ive tried following the documents on Partnersource but they havent been very helpful. I really just need a step by step instructions from someone whos has managed to install BA succesfully. Im using Nav client, Ive installed the native version of SQL 2005 and Ive installed business analytics but I cant get them to talk to each other.

When I try and run the configurator from Nav I get an error about the ODBC Server.

I also cannot view any of my cubes from excel

Please can you advise me on how to go forward?

Im using the configurator downloaded from parnetsource, wud this be correct as u mentioned that I need to use the configurator for SQL 2005?

There are two Configurators on PartnerSource (may be they are packed in one package). BAConfigurator40.exe is for MSSQL2000 and Configurator.exe is for MSSQL2005. You need to select correct .exe in NAV before running the configurator from NAV.

There are no Cubes until the configurator finished sucessfully.

After running the configurator within NAV, you can run the configurator manually once again to configure the BA Advanced module (to connect ANT Server to created cubes).

    Thanks Kine,

I have run it with the new configurator but getting an error saying: NODBC Drive not found.

    Can you help with this?
  • kinekine Member Posts: 12,562
It means you are using Native DB server and the configurator needs to use NODBC drivers to connect to it. Install the N/ODBC driver from Navision install CD.

Ive installed the NODBC Drivers but still getting the error. I am using Navision client only...is this correct?

No, you must run the Native DB Server or using MS SQL server, but not Single-user mode...
