Hi,

We are running Navision Attain 3.60, with the normal 3.60 Clients. We have around 10 Windows 98SE machines, a few of which are experiencing memory problems. One of the machines in question has 128MB of RAM, is only running Excel in the background, and has only 2 child windows open in Attain. It would have been running Attain pretty much all day. The problem is that the buttons 'disappear'. They just don't seem to be repainted. We also occasionaly get memory errors in Attain. When I check the system resources it is down to like 2% free!! I close Attain, and the system resources shoot backup and the problem goes away. The only problem is my users are getting quite upset and we've only been running Attain for a little while now! Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
Matt

I read a post on a forum (http://www.navisiononline.com/) about a problem with disappering buttons a time ago. I don't know if it has been fixed or if a solution has been posted. Maybe you could take a look.

I thought it wasn't possible to run Navision 3.60 (3.00 or higher) on a windows 98 machine. Although I'm beginning to have doubts about that, you should try to upgrade one of the machines with the problem to windows 2000 or XP. I think this will / should be the solution.

    Hope it works!

Eromein, you thought wrong :-). NA 3.xx CAN run on Win98 machine, but you can't use debugger (on WinME you can't too run debug). Win98SE is able of full support of NA 3.xx - client and debugger. Attain cannot run only on Win95 :-).
Win98SE are mentioned in official Navision documentation as minimal requirement. So on Win98 should NA3.xx THEORETICALY run without issues. But practice is different.
In our company, we have two machines with Win98SE and users working with these two computers (both 128 MB RAM, Celeron 300MHz and nVIDIA Vanta 16MB VGA cards) are experiencing exactly the same issues with GUI as written above.
Besides, one of these machines has extra performance problem - after 12 o'clock, this computer starts to loose preformance and slows down - mouse often locks up and RT clock is delayed - at 14 o clock there is difference about 10 minutes contrary server clock, which is accurate.
Our administrator looked for reason of this problem, but he did not found solution at this time.

I agree with upgrade idea: Win2000 is great OS for software developers - stable, fast and good support for debugging.
