Hi,
when I open my database (native 3.70) the system shows the following message. I try to do all the hints that the system give to me, but i dont get success.
I cant open the database with the client. The system shows always:
"There is a corrupted area in the database. This type of error occurs if the database file is changed by another program or if the device driver does not function correctly.
Warning. This error MUST be corrected before you can continue. Do not use any type of disk utilities on the database.
First check the database by clicking File,Database, Test and Maximum. If you still get the same error(i cant do it, because i cant open it to run the test process), you should:
1)make a backup of the database by copying the database file(s)
2)Use the built-in function to make a backup (i cant do it too, because i cant open the db copy
3)If this works, createa new database WITHOUT deleting the database than contains the error(s). Restore the backup (made with the built-in backup function) into the new database, and test it by clicking File,Database,Test, Maximum.
If this procedure does not work, any changes to the database after the most recen backup will be lost. Restore de most recent backup and test it.
For security reasons, you should save the old database until you have used the new one for a period of time.
Contact your system manager if you need assistance."

Hi
I think your best bet is to create a new database and restore a backup that was good into it.
However having said that there is another possibility but this costs $$$$.
You can conatct your NSC and they can send your database to M$ who have a program called C/DART that can recover your database.0 -
You can try to open the database in read only mode (dbreadonly=1 runtime parameter when starting fin.exe) and create fresh backup. But it is possible, that the backup will be not able to read all the data and it means what Albertvh wrote - restore previous backup or C/Dart0
