Charting Navision data?

Hi all

I have tailored together a small utility(alpha release) capable of transforming Navision data into a chart output. The output is in GIF format, so it can used directly on the Internet/Intranet.

The workflow is:

1. Collect Navision data to display as chart
2. Export data to text file
3. Invoke utility(exe-file) to convert data to chart output

This first release will only include limited chart types, but it will be on-the-fly creation of charts formatted into GIF files.

The first release is expected to be ready sometime within the next couple of weeks. If you're interested in a tool like this, please drop a note on this forum, and I'll upload it to the download area of www.mynavision.net.

Regards
Andreas L.

P.S.: The first release is only as an exe-file. An OCX is planned within the next month.

    Hi All Again,

Of course I'm interested on it, I think is really essential
a complete Free chart Add-on into every 4GL.
    Don't you think so?

We are manipulating such a volume of information, that it would
be really grateful to visualize it all to the end user.

It wouldn't be possible to create a "non visual" ocx that having
an external window could manage the mschart ocx or something
    like this?

    Anyway I'll post this feedfack to navision, waiting for more than a "gift" <img border="0" title="" alt="" src="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif" />

    Best Regards,
    Raúl.

    Hi again

The first release will be ready by the end of this week. The first release will be a plain exe file. The ocx version is under construction.

The ocx will be a non-visual ocx, meaning that all the processing will be managed just by function calls from within your Navision code. I have encountered some problems porting my C code to fit the Microsoft way of thinking, so the ocx will take it little while longer to finish than I anticipated. So, please be patient <img border="0" title="" alt="" src="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif" />

    Hello, try spss for windows.
    Works fine with Navision.

Try www.spss.com (I hope the link is correct)

    Hi all

I have had some minor problems wrapping up the first verion(beta-relase) of the charting tool, but now it is ready <img border="0" title="" alt="" src="images/smiles/icon_smile.gif" /> It will be uploaded later today, so it should be available within the next couple of days. I'm writing the release notes this very moment.

This first release is supplied as an exe file release. The OCX version is still under development.

I'll post a message on this board, when I upload the utility.

    Hi all

The next release of chartify will be ready within the next week. It will include new features like:

    - new chart types
    - axis text
    - chart header text
    - improved parameter handling. Due to the large number of parameters/settings needed to create a chart using chartify, the parameters will be read from a setup text file. This means that instead of calling chartify with the parameters on the command line, the chartify tool will import the settings from a text file created by the user. Description will be included in the next release.

    Regards
    Andreas Lundin

P.S.: If anyone have any suggestions or comments on the first beta relase of chartify, please be welcome to post these at this forum or send an E-mail to draupner@jubiipost.dk
