NAV and partitioning in SQL 2005

Is it possible to use partitioning functionality of SQL 2005 on some highly populated tables of NAV for instance ledger tables? It would be ideal if we can horizontally partition those tables according to the date fields. It can be questioned why I do not myself try it out! It would mean a very hazardous adventure. If there is any attempt for implementing that new technology (with success), it can be nice to know it.
