Strange ODBC Error

ta5ta5 Member Posts: 1,164
Hi
I'm testing ODBC Connection from a third party software to Navision 4.01 by ODBC.
I'm able to see tables and fields from Navision in the setup of the third pary software. However, when the software is about to show data from navision, I get an error "ODBC driver does not support dynasets".
Btw: The ODBC user has the super role in navision. The connection works by other means, for example in excel.

Any ideas on that?

Thanks in advance.
Thomas

N/ODBC (C/ODBC) driver support just basic sets of functionality. Tre application is trying to use dynasets which are not supported by the driver. It means that the application must use just some basic function, or if you are not able to change the behaviour of the external application, it means that it is not compatible with N/ODBC driver.

yeah I had the same problem with Galaxy Ship for US Mail.

It would have been nice for it to pull the address n stuff right from Navision & insert back a tracking number into Navision, but it was not to be. In fact the software let us see the tables & fields but it just wouldn't get the field data!!

So we have to export & import using excel.

c/ODBC, n/ODBC can only do so much

The same thing here Savatage. We were working with UPS and had to create an access database to be an intermediary.

That's where the E-ship add-on is so valuable to us.
