Printing problems..

Our office runs Navision 3.10A.

We've been running Windows 2000 up until a few days ago, but with the Daylight Savings Time issue/Microsoft no longer supporting Windows 2000 we've decided to install Windows XP on all our machines. All our machines came with XP to begin with, some idiot who was here years ago decided to buy and put 2000 on them instead.

Anyway, we have a Lexmark T520 laser printer and a recently installed Brother HL5250DN.

We're having a problem printing from one machine that I know of so far. When the girl at that machine goes into Order Invoicing and goto Post and Print, it usually prints out invoice/s and packing list/s. I think 3 or 4 pages come out.

On the Lexmark T520 it cuts off the top of the page. That is where our address and logos are. I switched her default printer to the Brother and it prints fine. It never used to do this. If she goes into just Orders and prints just a packing list it prints out fine, though. It's only when she does Post and Print.

I tested it on my computer and mine prints fine on both printers.

Any suggestions? We'd really like her on the Lexmark because it's closer to her desk and she does the invoicing 99% of the time.

first check if its a windows XP service pack issue

secondly, why dont you just install the drivers on her PC and try giving the Ip address of the T520 on the network.

finally if all fails,Use a USB Cable to make it as the default printer like u said its close to her

Also in the older versions you need to reboot the server after changing the time.

I guess it's too late to switch to 3.10B

What do you mean by "check if its a windows XP service pack issue"?

I know all of our XP machines have SP2 and all the latest updates (as of last week) installed. Every machine prints fine but hers and it's only that one issue, otherwise her printing is fine.

I will try installing the drivers locally on her machine and see if that helps when the girls go on break.

Can a printer use USB and Ethernet at the same time? I wouldn't want that printer off the network since it's also close to other people who use it.

One I had a similar issue with 3.70A, I made a technical upgrade and it worked. Try to do the same thing.

    As recently discussed here

also check for updated print drivers - win 2000 & win xp can have different drivers depending on the type of printer being used.

Thanks for the link to that post. It's nice to know I can upgrade our clients if we ever want, but still keep the database.

Bah. Technical can mean different things. At least if you had said hardware upgrade or software upgrade I'd have known better where to try.

Thanks guys. Installing the driver locally on just that machine worked.
