    Hi Amita,
Please ask specific questions in the forum, What is your confusion.
Without knowing your confusion how ppl will explain you. Better first read the manuals and then ask your confusion.

    Dear Muksha,

    Thanks for the reply...

I have already gone through manual of Inventory Mangement but there the concept and use of SKU is not given in detail.

I just wanted to know proper use of SKU and if anybody has used the concept, I would like to know the situation...

Hope now your doubt is clear..!

    Thanks...

When your manufacturing unit is one or two or more and demand of the item is location based with defined inventory level suppose 50. In this case system will check the inventory level at each location if the SKU Exist and raise a demand line for each location if the inventory level go below the reorder point and club all the requirement during planning run for manufacturing. If we look on the order tracking we will find all demands locationwise.

You can visualise the situation in a motorbike company which has 1-2 manufacturing plant and demand is coming from the hundreds of distributors based on their inventory level at their stock.

Hope You understand the scenerio now. May I know your exact scenerio???

    Hi !

Actly SKU are used if one item is having different planning parameters
    based upon Location or variants

    e.g item01 having reordering level 100 pcs at LOC1 and 500pcs
    at LOC2.

Also if you want to use the Req. Worksheet to calculate the reordering plan location wise, Then you have to define the SKU for an item.
