It is mostly because of licensing bro,you would mostly open the objects and save as using a different number. You must be wary of the nos to use in regards to your license .Theres also a text file that accompanies the license with the object nos to use

.please contact your nsc for more info...

Also you mught not want to replace an existing object with a new object with the same Object ID as the Old one.

This is for how to renumber an object:

Select the Object in object designer->design->File->saveAs and give a new number and new name to the object

This is for how to renumber an object:

Select the Object in object designer->design->File->saveAs and give a new number and new name to the object
Problem is that with this system, all the objects that use the old object will NOT point to the new object.
There is a renumbering tool in which you import the objects and all objects pointing to it. You renumber it in there and this then generates a new textfile to be imported in Navision.

The problem is that I don't remember where that renumbering tool can be found...
    If someone remembers...

In case you dont find the renumbering tool and/or group of imported objects is small

You can go to every object that points to the "renumbered object" and change the Global/Local variables to the "renumbered object ID".

1.For e.g You renumber an object from 50099 to 50098

2.There might be other related objects which are still looking for "50099"

3.So you go to these related objects and
In Global/Locals window you got Name,DataType and Subtype iam asking you to change the value of the SubType to "50098"

4.Please let me know if you find the renumbering tool suggested by Kriki

You can find the renumbering tool on the Microsoft_Business_Solutions-NavisionTools-CD. You can download this CD from the partnersource.
