report 790 Calculate Inventory

hi, i have the problem that if i start the calculate inventory-report then no user can create sales-lines because the system is locked. :-s

the report runs approx. 50 minutes and no one here has enough time to wait such a long time in tthe middle of the day... :?

i found the locktable command in the report, removed it for testing but the table lock still occurs. ](*,)

can somebody help?

The Phy Inventory Journal->Calculate Inventory report is not a speedy report. Especially if you have a ton of items & ledger entries.

I find it easier to filter out item that are out of stock and do them in smaller groups to help speed the process.

If people are allowed to change the qty's while the report is running then it would be useless - I think that's what the locking out is used for.

& when necessary I run it from the fastest machine which is usually the client located on the server.
