Why does the ZUP file keep re-setting?

:?: Ladies and Gents:
Many users come to me asking why after they make changes such as showing columns or hiding columns, those changes are not saved for any more than say a day or two. It is my understanding that when objects are updated, the ZUP file is re-set, but are there other times when this happens? We only move changed objects into our live environment once each week, but these re-sets are taking place daily.

Somebody else mentioned user synchs re-set the ZUP as well. We are not sure if there is a problem or everything is working correctly. Does anybody know the official word on this?

I am rather thinking about other possibilities:

Especially with citrix or remote desktop:
-is each user using HIS zup-file? put "ID=X:\ZUP\USERZUPFILE.zup" in the shortcut to start Navision.
-in case of load balancing, are you sure that the zup-files are stored in a place reachable by all the terminal servers?

    Hi,

Resets are taking place daily, or the changes are not remembered at all ?
If daily - changes are remembered between logins to the computer, or only between logins to the Navision ? Resets are "total", I mean after reset it looks like Navision is started very first time, or changes are rolled back to some state ? Do users use remote computing schema via Terminal Services or Citrix or it is "standard" client-server config ("standard" I mean each user has his own instalation of Navision Client on his computer) ? Do users have their desktop on the workstations or desktops are redirected and stored on some server ?

Kirki, in remote computing scheme, as Citrix or TerminalServer IMHO it is enough to add ID=%USERNAME% to the Navision shortcut, if users are loging using different accounts (I've seen installation where usere all users used only one windows login, but each has his own DB login)

This has to do with where the zup file is stored when you use roaming profiles. Make sure that the zup files are stored with the profile, or in a network drive that is always mapped to the same drive letter and you should be fixed.

At this company, users desktops are on their workstation, they do not use citrix or remote desktop, they all have unique windows logins and use windows authentication to login to NAV. Their ZUP files are stored locally.

    Hello Brandon.

Find the zup file. Click on properties. make sure that the everyone role is added and it has full control.
