Export to Text and Import back

We are still on Version 3.60A. I have found that when I export compiled objects to text and then later re-import the text file object back into Navision, I sometime get an error. The main (but not only) cause appears to be { bracket characters in the documentation section. Worse, I have seen this problem casue the import to delete the balance of code in the documentation section from that point on. My questions are:
1) Are there specific coding issues you should avoid that will cause text importing errors (on an object that compiles and runs properly)?
2) My main reason for doing this is to import/export all objects to support source control. Anyone had experience doing this, and if so, any problems in importing/exporting the text?

Yes there are some issues with this, like column positions and blank functioncaptions.
