Navision with Russian language and cyrillic documents

alsolalsol Member Posts: 243
Hello,
We will rollout a Navision 3.70 CH for a Russian based company. They need English as well as Russian language in Navision.

Now, if we buy the Russian language and set the Windows settings of the client to Russian this should not be a problem for standard modules.
But what happens when a sales invoice is printed by a user with English settings? Does Navision take the language from the customer and prints the invoice still in Russian or will the invoice be in English? Is it possible at all to print a document in Cyrillic with a Windows with English settings?

Best regards

on the customer card, there is a field for Language Code. You would set this up as needed (depending on the language modules you have installed). You then want to check the reports sent to customer (invoice, credit, shipment, etc) and check the caption properties of the controls for the proper translations. Some will already be there (for stock reports), others you will have to add (for custom reports), and some you will have to correct (for stock) - the Danish captions are awful, for instance mistaking the ø for ¢.

then, whenever you print the document, the system checks the customer's language code and uses the appropriate caption. Note that you will probably have to manually translate item descriptions and take advantage of the item Translations table to get the Cyrillic and English.

on our machines running in Denmark, we have the application running in English (since so many of our forms are missing control translations that cause errors at run time :( ), yet the documents print without fail in any of the needed languages.

I hope this helps you out!
    kind of fell into this...

It is imposible to print documents with english regional settings in windows. With english regional settings you will see on the screen just strange symbols. You will need to change regional settings to Russian and restart Windows every time you need to switch between languages.

Not entirely true, there is a way of getting around it without restarting Navision.

In regional settings in control panel there is a section, look around for it i cant remembre where exactly, for codepages to use for non Unicode Programs.

We set this to russian for one customer and then they could use the correct characters.

As they were using english keyboards they just did this using import and export of the text required but it always imported, exported and printed on screen correctly.
