It depends on if you mean Nav on SQL or Nav on C/Side.
Nav on SQL - SQL Server 2005 x64 is actually recommended due to its expanded memory support as you no longer need Enterprise Edition to use over 1.7 gigs of memory and with x64 you no longer have to deal with AWE where all memory over 1.7 gigs can only be used for data caching. With x64 the memory can be used for all aspects such as lock memory and compiler memory. The Nav client will also run on x64 it just runs in the WOW (windows on windows) subsystem. There is no real benefit I have found from running the client on x64.
Nav on C/Side - I have never tried it, but it should just run in the WOW subsystem. I do not think there would be any benefit from running c/Side on x64, but as I said I have never tied it.0 -
One thing to look out for is when you install NAV, to go through custom steps, and make sure that MSDE is not selected. This will ruin your 64x SQL Server 2005 installation, and we've even seen a total system meltdown (OS failure, machine would not reboot) as a result.0

Hello We have a client that is running Navision Native C/Side server on Windows 64 bit server. No problems. They have been live for 1 month so far.
Nas runs fine as well.0 -
Hi,
Have you detected any performance problem in your Nav implementation in x64 related to long processes like Navision database restoring?
I mean, a process that in a Windows 2003 Server x32 is about 3-4 hours for example, and in x64 is about two or three times than the x32 execution.
We have checked the x64 server and we have not detected any potential problem, therefore we have started to think that Cside client is not using in a right way the x64 hardware resources.
Thanks.0 -

Thanks.
The C/Side database server and client are 32 bit applications and will not take any advantage of a 64 bit system (even though they will run). Only a SQL implementation will see direct advantages of 64 bit.
FYI - Business Notifications is one thing that will not run under 64 bit. There are no bugs - only undocumented features.0
