BA Configurator on Server only

Following up my last posting

I come to the conclusion, that configurator.exe has to be installed and runned from the server only. Server means the machine, where Navision-DB is located.

Is that assumption correct?
What I still don't understand, how could SQL Analysis Server (for the cubes) and SQL Server (for the Navision-DB) run on 2 separate machines?

1) Configurator assume that the MS SQL with AS is installed on localhost
2) Configurator is connecting to:
a) MS SQL Option: same PC from which user is connected (it is a bug, because it is the same PC the Navision is running - the localhost). See http://www.mibuso.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16063 how to solve that
b) Native DB: Into field "Navision Server Name" in table BA Database you need to fill the server name, to which configurator needs to connect to get Nav data.
