Hello. I was wondering if anyone knows of a way in Navision to track Bookings (sales based on orders) versus Billings (sales based on invoices).

I am not sure if it is in the core product. We are open to a third party solution if anyone knows of one.

Thank you very much,

Kevin

Can you please give some more information?

You can easily create a new field that gets populated in the posting routine giving you the information you want.

I believe they should add this field in the next version in the item ledger.

Bookings means how many orders were taken. Once an order is shipped/invoiced, you can store the qty somewhere. But the issue is that if the order is not shipped, but is then deleted, you lose the "booking" information.

This is very much a US thing, and the only times I have seen it elsewhere was with a US affiliated company. But it is a definet business requirement form many companies.

Having done this a few times, I know that it is not as simple as just "adding a field".

You could start with creating quotes, and then make orders. That way you could see how many quotes did not turn to Orders.

Thanks for all of the information. I like David's idea of a new table (see the link on his earlier response). I think that will be the simplest method and allow a lot of flexibility.

    Thanks again,
