Dear all,

After migrating to Windows 2000 from Windows 98 we are having problems on all our desktop stations: if you install Navision (Version US 3.01.A) client under one username and you then logged in as a different user, you are getting the "Preparing to install..." error message. We went around by installing Navision client under each user who is using the computer. However, now problem came back again when we are trying to implement Terminal Services. It even escalated by displaying the same message even when the same user is changing companies in Navision in the same database (Ctrl-O).

Please help.

Sincerely,

Denis Petrov
Best regards,

Denis Petrov.

    Hi,

create a shortcut to the desktop from the fin.exe or finsql.exe, depending which you use. After starting the client with the shortcut you won't see any Preparing to install... messages. Everything will work fine.

I don't understand this solution. I copied the shortcut from the user who has the installation working fine to the desktop of another user name and it still gave this same "preparing to install" message. What is it exactly we need to do to fix this problem

    Thanks!!
