How to run multiple versions in one operating system?

And it's a good idea to use the id= parameter on the shortcut command line to create a different ZUP file to be used with each different version of Navision. Among other benefits it reduces the chances of converting a database from a previous version by mistake when using the most recent company list.

Thanks.
In fact my main problem is I could use 3.7 database in 4.0 but now it says the database has to be converted. What is the reason of that?

Can be many things:
- SIFT Triggers
- Security model ...
- ...
If you open a database with a new client (higher version than usual), it always ask you to convert the database to the new version. Be aware, there is no way back and you will not be able to open the database with the old client again (actually you can, but only on SQL Server, and only when you're able to do some in depth changes...this is no official way).0 -
You cannot use a 3.70 database with a version 4 client program without running the database conversion. This is not the same as upgrading the database as the code in the objects is not modified. It will update some table structures though.
Once you convert a database to version 4, the 3.7 clients will no longer be able to open it.
