Hello,

In the 5th chapter of the Upgrade Toolkit document for Navision 3.60 there are 2 ways described for Upgrading NF 2.60E...

1 Make a complete Navision Financials backup of the database.

2 Uninstall all the clients.

3 Install the new SQL Server Option for Navision Attain 3.60 clients.

4 Create a new database on SQL Server. You must be running on SQL Server 2000.

5 Restore the database backup into the new database.

6 Perform the database upgrade procedures described in .

Alternatively you can:

1 Install one Navision Attain client. This must be either a Navision Attain 3.01 B or a Navision Attain 3.10 client.

2 If you are running on SQL Server 7.0, you must upgrade to SQL Server 2000.

3 Connect to your SQL Server database with the new client. When you access the SQL Server database for the first time with the new clients, you are prompted to convert the database. Convert the database.

4 Uninstall the new client.

5 Install a SQL Server Option for Navision Attain 3.60 client.

6 Connect to your SQL Server database with this new client. When you access the SQL database for the first time with one of the new clients, you are prompted to convert the database. Convert the database.

Note

Restoring a Navision Financials/Attain backup of a SQL Server database can take a considerable amount of time depending on the size of the database. Converting the database is much quicker.

First I would like to ask if anyone on this forum has done an upgrade with a database of 100GB in size? Is sounds like a daunting task to restore a database backup of that size and then run the upgrading tools on it.. Any recommendations if you have?

Second.. Has anyone on this forum experience from this alternative way of upgrading NF2.60 to NA3.60? If you do... Are these instructions sufficient for the task... It does sound a bit too easy to be true..!!!

Thanks...
