Reserving on sales invoice

I know reserving is possible on sales order but is it possible directly on invoice.

Well Sales Invoice is normally prepared if you receive an urgent order and you want to ship and invoice the goods immediately. If you want to reserve the goods and ship it later then sales order should be used.

OK, then we just have to ask customer to change their routines and start use sales order instead of sales invoice for these cases.
